Copps Saturday Double Daze Update

Copps is indeed continuing Saturday double coupons until the end of the year. A sign was posted in the entryway when I went shopping yesterday. So, definitely at least a few more months to have the option to double on Weds. or Saturday. We'll have to wait and see what they decide to do as far as next year!

Copps Double Daze 9/29

Hey Savers!
Once again, I must pass the buck and let MCA give you the list for this week's Copps deals. I'm flying solo this week and am already short on time & sleep. So, click the link to visit Minnesota Coupon Adventure for this week's coupon deals. Please cross-reference w/ our local ad as there are sometimes a few differences. Also, our current ad indicates that Saturday Double Daze have indeed come to an end, but MCA reports that Saturday doubles will continue through the end of the year. I will see what info I can find on that and update you all.

Copps also rolled out two new special deals in this week's ad. First there is TurkeyPerks... you earn points for every $10 you spend which will add up to reduced price or possibly free turkey come Thanksgiving. They also started a Rewards Club program where if you buy certain items, you'll earn another item for free or at a discount (i.e. spend $5 on bananas, get a free 12oz. Fresh Express garden salad). Purchases must be made between 9/26 and 11/20, with rewards redeemed by 12/18. Not all reward club items are listed in the ad. Look for the Rewards Club shelf tags or signs around the store during this promotion. Rewards earned will show up at the bottom of your receipt. Everything is linked to your card, so your reward discounts should come off your total automatically when you purchase the items earned.

Happy shopping!

Shop Around: CSN Stores

Our (very old, hand-me-down) bunk beds broke last week. After a quick check of Craigslist and a call out to friends we came up with no cheap replacement. We ended up building our own (they turned out great--but that's another post!). I did look online a bit but got overwhelmed with the choices, shipping rates, and high price tags. I should have checked CSN Stores! I'm kicking myself because they had several sets reasonably priced and most shipped for free. Don't be like me, whether your looking for something big like console tables or something small like spoons click over and check them out.

CSN Stores have been kind enough to offer giveaways here on GB Savers and they have reasonable prices so I don't mind giving them a little shout-out. They also have an unconditional guarantee and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. What more could you ask for?

I plan on doing a little shopping there myself since their 18 quart roaster prices are better than Amazon. I'll get back to you and will give you a full review after my order arrives!

No coupons in Chicago Tribune

I just found out this morning that the Chicago Tribune doesn't  have any coupons in. The last two weeks it didn't have the Red Plum inserts, but today in 4 papers, it didn't have any coupons. I will be calling the Tribune tomorrow to find out what is going on. In the meantime, if you want to try and buy the Tribune, be sure to check and see how thick the insert package is. If it is really thin, you probably don't have any coupons in it so save your money. I will post when I find out what the deal is.

Inspiring Link!

Money Saving Mom has been posting inspiring stories about how people paid cash for various items. GB Savers reader and Coupon University Graduate Jen sent a story in to Money Saving Mom about how she got creative to pay for a new kitchen faucet. Take a minute to read it and look at the cute picture of Jen and her family! Good job, Jen!!

Click for Cans

Campbell's Click for Cans has started. So take a minute to vote each day for your favorite team. While you're there you can print $5 in coupons!

Each team gets 1,000 cans of soup, but division champs get an additional 12,000. The winner gets 5,000 more for a total of 18,000 cans. The Packers have won this for the past 8 years! That's a LOT of soup for our local food banks! No matter how the Pack plays we can always win this "Souper Bowl".

To see how the Packers are doing, click on "Match Ups". Either word has not gotten out in some NFL cities or Packer fans are the best because we out click every most teams by almost 20,000 clicks! You can vote once each day... I'll put a little Click for Cans button in the sidebar to make it easy to click over and vote!

Copps List Hiatus

Hey all you savers!
So sorry I haven't been able to get a Copps list put together lately. It's been a crazy 3 weeks of adjusting to new schedules between the kids' schools and my part-time job. I'm sure many of you can relate! Please remember to check out Minnesota Coupon Adventure for an extensive list of deals. I use this as my reference and usually trim down to the best deals and cut out any deals that are local to MN. In using her list, please remember to double check w/ our local ad, especially when she mentions in-ad and in-store coupons, as they do not always match ours. The majority of the list is the same though. Thanks for your patience. I hope to be back on track w/ the list next week! Happy shopping!!

What is a Good Deal for Toilet Paper?

Over the years I've gotten deals on just about every item I buy. One thing that always eludes me as far as deals go is toilet paper. Thanks to having mostly boys, we don't go through as much of it as some, but it is still (obviously) a MUST have!

We used to just buy the big box of generic toilet paper of Sam's Club. We are not brand loyal for toilet paper. Of course, we prefer certain brands over others but considering what we're going to be using it for, we're really not that picky. If it's a particularly low quality brand I just put it in the boys bathroom and get a better brand for my bathroom! :) But we decided against renewing our Sam's Club membership, so our old standby is no longer an option.

I recently came across this great blog post to help you figure out when you've found a good deal on toilet paper. Toilet paper is one of those things that is hard to compare price-wise due to such huge differences in packaging. Unit cost comparison (cost per square foot) really comes in to play when buying paper products.

Go read the post, but the main points are: $.01 per square foot is a great deal and look at the TOTAL package square footage (not roll) when comparing. Here's the fun part: To easily figure this out look at the package square footage and make it into a dollar amount (656 square feet = $6.56) and if the package cost is equal to or less than that amount then it's a good deal!

Where do you buy toilet paper? What do you consider a good TP deal?
