We're a Coca-Cola family (one of my few brands I'm loyal to WHEN I actually break down and buy soda) but that Pepsi deal is better than the Coke one at Festy this week. Thanks!

We prefer Coke too. When we moved from AZ we were surprised at the Pepsi love up here! :)

Copp's/Pick N Save have Coke products on sale 5/$10 with additional $20 purchase. If you needed anything else from there, it's a good deal!

Anyone know how lean the ground beef is? That is a great price, but I'm picky on %. Just used up the last of my frozen gr. beef! And that is a great Pepsi deal! May have to make a stop there this week.

Erica, the ground beef is 80%. Did you know if you rinse ground beef with hot water you can turn 80% into 95%? Of course, this wouldn't work in meatloaf or hamburgers, but it's great for browned meat.

Here's a link about it.

Awesome! Thanks for the info!! I mostly use my bulk gr. beef for browned meat in pastas and casseroles anyway. To the Pig I go to restock tomorrow!

Free coupon for Olsen's is baked beans. Bummer, I wanted the Minute Maid! :-)

Hmmmm... that was last week's coupon... wonder if they just haven't updated it yet?!

Don't bother printing it, Erica. It says right on the coupon it's only good through 6/28. Print the Larry's one and see if they'll take it. :)

I've heard about rinsing meat but aren't you actually getting less beef that way since so much of it is fat? 10 pounds of 80% beef with the fat cooked and rinsed off or 10 pounds of 90% beef with less fat cooked and rinsed. I've always theorized it that way.

That would definitely be true if they both cost the same. I guess it depends on the cost of each. I'm not sure what the 93% type is running.

The article you linked has a good point:

"If you cook a pound of raw hamburger, it will become about 10-2/3 ounces of cooked meat. This is merely 2-ounces less than the most expensive super-lean ground beef. Regular hamburger costs less than half as much as super-lean ground beef. I am not willing to pay double for 2 more ounces of meat."

This article also gives the weight after cooking which you could use to figure unit cost based on prices to see which types was really the better deal.

I'm guessing that even factoring in the loss of fat weight this price will still work out to be cheaper per ounce.

Who wants to run to the store and price all the various % ground beefs?! :)

I'll pull out my spreadsheet cuz I did price them when I did my Grocery Store comparison!
