Redeeming Amazon Gift Cards

I've had a few people ask questions about redeeming the Amazon gift cards that you can earn through Swagbucks.

First, I think the Amazon gift card is the best reward. It's "cheap" and you can buy just about anything from Amazon.com! At only 450 Swagbucks, the $5 Amazon gift card is the most bang for your Swagbuck. However, Swagbucks limits you to only five of the same gift per month, so if you are lucky enough to earn points to get more than five you will have to wait until the next month to order more. If you want to save up your points, the $50 Amazon gift card is a better "deal" than the $25.

Every time I get a gift code I put in my Amazon account right away. You can put in as many codes as you want and they will just keep building up until you are ready to spend them! They never expire. Amazon offers free shipping on many items if you spend $25 or more, so if you save up your Swagbucks and order with free shipping you could get some really great stuff for free!

Here is how to put in an Amazon gift code:

1. Go to Your Account. (It's easy to set one up if you don't already have one.)
2. Click "Apply a gift card to your account" under "Payment Settings".
3. Sign in with your e-mail address and password.
4. "Copy" then "paste" your claim code into the box and click then "Redeem now". Your funds will automatically be applied to your next order.

I ordered several of our homeschooling books with my "earnings". When I first joined Swagbucks I wondered if it was going to be worth all the trouble. When I sent off for my completely free order I realized it was! Have you gotten anything from Amazon with Swagbucks reward gift cards?

If you don't know what Swagbucks is click here to find out more. You earn your first 30 Swagbucks just for signing up!

Don't Forget: Giveaway!!

Don't forget to sign up for the GB Savers giveaway! You can win the prize of your choice at CSN Stores.com with the $40 gift card. Just want to add that your chances of winning are really good so be sure to get your entry in!!

Target Accused of Ripping People Off

Some of you may have noticed that coupons at target are getting rounded down, when they shouldn't. Especially coupons for $ off multiple items. The coupons are scanning for the price of one item and rounding down your coupons. Please keep a close eye on the coupons when shopping at Target.

Here are more details from Common Sense with Money

Walgreens Coupon Policy NOW ONLINE!

After years of confusion Walgreens has finally decided to post their coupon policy online! Although I know it is probably not the case, I would like to think my many complaint emails and requests for this policy over the years had something to do with this new development! :)

The policy is well written and clear, especially on a few points that have long caused confusion for both shoppers and cashiers. Most notably:

Buy One, Get One Free Coupons

  • When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.
  • Sales tax must be paid for any Buy One, Get One Free coupon offers, if required by applicable state laws.
This appears to be a change in their "official" policy. Although until now we never really knew what the official policy was! This means that you CAN use two coupons (or a $x/2 coupon) in combination with a BOGO sale. And you CAN use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale (you will still have to pay sales tax, which has always been the case).

Read the whole policy here. I highly recommend you print this policy off and put it in your coupon container so you have it handy the during your shopping trips to Walgreens.

Watts Up Pro

Have you ever wondered what it really costs to run the appliances or electronic devices in your home? Want to see if would make a difference to keep your DVD player unplugged when not in use?

This is what the Watts Up Pro (clever name huh?) can do. It displays information in "true dollars and cents - no need to do the conversions". The best part is you don't even have to buy this $150 device! You can borrow it from the Brown County Library! I came across this on accident when I saw it on hold for someone else. So I requested it myself. I just picked it up and haven't started playing with it yet but it's mine for a month so I have plenty of time.

If you plan on buying a new appliance of any kind you might want to check this out and take it with you to the store. Then you'll know just was that new freezer is going to cost you to run per month!

[Anyone know if the library lends out any other type of equipment? If they do I can't figure out how to search it without knowing the exact name of the device.]

Office Max: MaxPerks

MaxPerks has been offering some great back to school deals (ex: free backpacks, paper, binders, etc.), but there has been some confusion on who can take part in these deals. I had been told that it was only for businesses and teachers (homeschoolers included) so I didn't really want to share these great deals knowing so many of you probably couldn't take advantage of them anyway. And I definitely didn't want to encourage anyone to sign up saying they were one or the other when they were not.

When someone mentioned to me last week that they were able to get a card even though they weren't a teacher or business I thought I'd email Office Max directly and find out for sure. After all there are some great deals to be had! I'm happy to report that Office Max finally got back to me today and this is what they said:
Yes, you may get a MaxPerks card all you have to do is choose the Business card. We do not distinguish business or individual. We use the same card for either business or individual. Please go to Officemaxperks.com to apply for your MaxPerks card. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

So there you have it. MaxPerks is for everyone. If you are not a teacher (or homeschooler) then sign up under the business part of MaxPerks to take advantage of these great deals!

FREE Sobe Water

This is just a reminder that CVS has free sobe vitamin water this week. Here is how you can get two bottles for free. They have them on sale, B1G1 free and if you have been playing the "Heads or Tails game" you probably have a lot of B1G1 free coupons (you can print twice every time you win), which would make both of them free. The best part, is there is no limit to how many you can buy.

Cheap Crest mouthwash

CVS is running a deal right now if you buy $10 of Crest, Scope or Oral-B products, you will get $5 ECBs. Here is the deal. So you get 3 bottles of mouthwash for $0.97 after coupons and ECBs.
