I have question about Pig Points (PPs). For example, when, in the ad, you see something like this: 1500 PPs Save 5 cents (per Gallon of Gas) with ... Card... and One Bag of Peas. Does this mean that if you buy the Bag of Peas you will receive 1500 PPs? If so, do the PPs need to be used for gas or could they be used for a store item special (Free cupcake for 2100 PPs)?
Yes, you get the Pig Point when you purchase any featured item. You'll see though that those items are usually NOT on sale (or their prices aren't listed) so be very careful.
I don't usually go out of my way to buy the Pig Point items. If I happen to buy them and get the points then that is just an extra bonus. I haven't really found many deals through Pig Points which is why I never list them in my deal posts. Make sure you aren't over paying just to earn Pig Points.
If you have some Pig Points in your account you can use them either for discounted gas or the special store items. You'll have to do the math to figure out which is a better deal... a free or discounted grocery item or a discounted gas. (Each 1500 points is worth $.05 off gas. I can't remember the gallon limit at the moment!?) Most of the time (not all) the discounted gas is a better deal.
The PPoints are used up to 15 gallons of gas - I have gotten more than one round of gas for free - they actually charge you about .14 - and it's wonderful. If you do the math, sometimes with pig points, the item is like having a super good coupon attached to it. I once got Scrubbies, like Scotch Brite for my kitchen for 1/2 off b/c of pig points. I usually stand there and do the math if it's an item I'm interested in. If it's .02/gal in pig points, that is .30 off (redeemable in gas), if it is .05/gal in pig points, that is .75 off.I have to buy gas anyway, but I don't necessarily have to buy the items so I just make decisions on the spot when I do the math. I NEVER use them for food items - always a better deal to use them for gas - cashiers (who love me) have even told me so :)))))) Typically I save all of my pig points until my gas is free and then go get it.
The deals for Howard are very different from De Pere this week. I looked at the Howard circular and there is .19/lb bananas and .99 milk coupons. Those coupons did not show up on the De Pere circular...
Thanks Kris! Drives me nuts when they do that! But that's why at the end of every post I put a little disclaimer to check the ad! :)
