Erica's 6/3 Festival Run

Had a great Festival run this week, so thought I'd share that too. Got everything you see here for $31.36, saving $37.42 (54%).

Great deals:

  • Combined the Con-Agra deal of 10/$9 - $2/10 store coupon with two $1.50/4 IP's, the 0.20 Hunt's ketchup MC and two $0.40/2 Manwich coupons from the red box. Got 4 Manwich, 4 Banquet meals, ketchup and pasta sauce for $3 or $0.30 each.
  • Combined the Bar S hotdog sale ($0.68 each, limit 2) w/ the $1/2 coupon from the red box, making them $0.18 each.
  • Got FREE hamburger buns w/ internet only Festival coupon

Erica's 6/2 Copps Run

Sorry I didn't get my list up before Double Daze yesterday. Life has been crazy since last week, w/ the holiday weekend and all. I really shouldn't even be at the computer right now! :-) So much to do, so little time, just like always. I'm behind on just about everything. Anyway, thought I'd get this post up since it might still help w/ your planning for Saturday Double Daze, which is still going on until the end of the month. Here's what I got, followed by my two transactions...

Transaction #1:

  • 2 Roundy's bread, $1 each
  • Lay's Kettle Chips, $3 - $1 MC (All You) doubled = $1
  • 5 Pop Tarts, $1.99 each wyb 5
  • 2 Bush's baked beans, $1 each
  • Wish bone and Western dressings, $1.49 each - $1.50/2 MC - free salad wyb 2 MC from last week's ad = 2/1.48
  • Bag salad, $2.75 - free coupon above ($2 limit) = $0.75
  • 4 Chunky soups, 4/$5 - (2) $1/2 IP's (doubled) = 4/$1
  • 2 Ronzoni Smart Taste, $1.19 each - (2) 0.75 IP's (doubled) = FREE plus overage
  • Total = $17.56, saved $24.85 (59%)

Transaction #2 (had issues on this one!):

  • 2 Stove Top, 1.89 each - $1/2 IP (doubled) = 2/1.78
  • 2 Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches, 2.50 each - (2) 1.00 IP's (doubled) = 0.50 each (or so I thought... coupons doubled at 1.89 instead of 2.00, not sure why)
  • Blue Bunny ice cream, 2.50 - 0.75 MC from All You (checker didn't scan this one!)
  • Vine tomatoes, 0.99/lb
  • baby carrots, $1
  • 2 Minute Maid punch/lemonades, $1 each
  • 2 Country Crock, BOGO - 0.40 MC = 2/3.09
  • 2 Activia 2/$4 - (2) $1 IP's (doubled) = 2 FREE
  • Milk, 1.98 w/ in ad coupon
  • Total = $15.28 (should have been 14.31), saved 26.51 (63%)

Please reference Minnesota Coupon Adventure for more sale/coupon match-ups and links to IP's.

Home Depot Kids Workshop 6/5

The Home Depot Kids Workshop for June is the 5th. So head over to make a Soccer Game. No registration required, just show up between 9am and noon. All Home Depot stores participate in the workshop. Participants are also given a little Home Depot apron just like the employees wear and a pin to show they completed the project.

Stock Up Watch for June

June is National Dairy month so watch for great deals on various dairy products. You can stock up on some items and freeze them. Even when you can't freeze, you can still incorporate the great deals in your weekly menu! Yogurt in muffins or smoothies, etc.

If you are looking for recipes that include a certain ingredient, check out the recipe search function at All Recipes. You just type in what you have on hand you'll get tons of recipes!

Watch for summer fruits like strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and watermelon to go on sale. Eat them fresh and toss some in the freezer for winter if you find a great deal. Here is a fruit freezing guide (I use the tray method.) Or you might want to give canning a try.

Picnic type items (ketchup, mustard, relish, bbq sauce, hot dogs, etc.) will continue to be on sale pretty much through the 4th of July. Stock up while you can.

Keep an eye out for any clearance sales. If you find any please let us know and we'll post them here! Actually, if you find ANY great deals please share, the more eyes we have looking around Green Bay the better! Spread the word... tell a friend about GB Savers!

Mailbox Alert!

Keep an eye out for a $5 gift card from Wal-mart in your mailbox! They are celebrating the "Grand Opening" of the West De Pere store after their remodeling by sending mailing out $5 gift cards! I don't know when they expire but they have to be "activated" by June 24th.

If you get one and don't want to use it be sure to pass it along to someone who will! Hopefully they will offer a similar deal for those living around the East GB store when it has it's official "grand opening" too.

House Party!

A few months ago I signed up with House Party to see if I could try some products for free.

This what their website says:
A House Party is thousands of parties across the country, hosted by people like you. Each event is sponsored by a leading brand and focuses on something cool that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience firsthand and share with their friends.
Once you sign up you get emails about upcoming parties that you can apply for. If chosen, you will be a party host. The company sponsoring the parties sends you their products and you invite your friends. There is nothing to sell. Companies are using these parties as a new type of advertising. (You can read more about how it works here.)

A few emails came after I signed up, but it was nothing I was really interested in. Then I got an email for a party that I really wanted! Jarden Home brands, the makers of Ball and Kerr, were going to be sending canners and supplies for a canning party. So I applied. I was super excited when I found out that I was chosen to be a party host!

I've canned a few times in the past. I would have canned a bunch of jalapenos from last years garden but I ran into a problem. When we moved to this house we inherited a glass top stove and my old enamel canner (that I got at the thrift store for a few bucks) is not safe to use on my new stove. I researched a bit online and several sites said you can't can at all on a smooth top stove so I pretty much gave up. When I saw that this party included a canner that works on ALL stove types... even glass tops... I was so excited.

Friday night my host package arrived and it was better than I expected! This is what I got:

  • Elite Stainless Steel Waterbath Canner with Canning Rack (it's beautiful!)
  • Ball 4-piece utensil set
  • Ball Canning Discovery Kit (see below for a description, it's really cool!)
  • Ball Blue BookGuide to Preserving (2 copies)
  • Plus coupons to get 4 cases of jars free, pectin for the recipes, and a demonstration chart

My guests will get:
  • Reusable grocery bags
  • Coupons for them and to give their friends
  • Ball Fruit Pectin (to make their own jam/jelly)
  • A jar of salsa and a jar of peppy jelly with the recipes
I made a trial batch of the pepper jelly this morning. It went well! I haven't tasted it yet but it sure looks good! I still can't believe they sent me all this great stuff for free!

If you are interested in learning more, here are a few links for you:
  • Ball's website Fresh Preserving has all sorts of great canning resources and recipes
  • The Ball Blue Book is the best canning guide (Walmart sells this for under $6)
  • Ball's Elite Stainless Steel Waterbath Canner can be used on all types of stoves... including glass top!
  • If you want to try canning but don't want to invest in a canner you can get a Ball Canning Discovery Kit which includes a how-to booklet, 3 jars with lids/rings, and a special basket that turns any stock pot into a water bath canner! (Wal-mart sells these for $10)
I will have a few leftover coupons for the Ball Blue Book ($1 off) and Canning Discovery Kit ($2 off) if you are interested let me know and I'll get them to you. With the coupons you can give canning a try for under $20!

*This a re-post from my personal blog.
